In Loving Memory of Our Beloved Sister Bana Gora

In Loving Memory of Our Beloved Sister Bana Gora

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi rajiʿun.

It is with profound sadness that the Muslim Women’s Council announces the sudden passing of our beloved sister, co-founder and CEO, Bana Gora. Our heartfelt condolences and sincere prayers go out to her mother, family, friends, colleagues, and all those whose lives were touched by her leadership, service and kindness. Bana was a unique trailblazer, guiding our work with her forthright, unflinching wisdom & knowledge. A true visionary, determined to make a difference to our community. For us, she wasn’t just part of MWC, she was MWC. Her passion for her work & her dedication to her faith will continue to inspire us.

May Allah grant Bana forgiveness and mercy, admit her into Jannat al-Firdaws, elevate her rank, accept her many years of dedicated service. Her legacy will live on through the lives she touched, the institutions she shaped, the communities she served, and the courage she inspired in others, along with the sincerity of faith she brought into every aspect of our work. We are proud to say we learned and continue to learn so much from her life & beautiful legacy alhamdulillah, and pray that we can build on the work she started inshaAllah.

Please keep our dear Bana in your Prayers and Duas. We will hold you in our hearts forever dear Bana 💚

As a means of Sadaqah Jariyah for our beloved sister Bana, those who wish to donate to a project very dear to her heart may do so by supporting the Muslim Women’s Council Women’s Building Project. Launched by Bana in June 2024, the project was envisioned as a forward-thinking, transformative, community-led institution: created by women, for everyone. It reflects so much of what Bana dedicated her life to: service, women’s leadership, and lasting community benefit.
