Recent figures have revealed that more than 250 people have died while homeless in Yorkshire and the Humber since 2022, including here in Bradford. These are not simply statistics, they are lives, individuals with stories, hopes and families left behind.
The Museum of Homelessness recorded 92 deaths in 2024 alone, a reminder of the profound challenges faced by those without safe shelter. Locally, Bradford Council acknowledged awareness of one rough sleeper’s death in the city during this period, stating that “the death of any homeless person is a death too many.”
