Ustadha Rummana began her Aalimiyya studies at sixteen, delving into traditional Islamic sciences. She graduated from Mohiuddin Girls College in Burnley and continued her studies at Sayyida Khadija Institute in Nottingham. In 2018, she travelled to Tarim, Yemen, to study at Dar al-Zahra, a renowned institution founded by Habib Umar bin al-Hafiz.

Introduction:
Everything we accomplish is by the will of Allah. Each day carries its blessings, and Wednesday is considered a blessed day to start something new. With Ramadan just a few weeks away, this is the perfect time to reflect, prepare, and align ourselves physically, mentally, and spiritually.
The Significance of Preparation:
Ramadan is a spiritual reset—an opportunity to attain righteousness and strengthen our connection with Allah. However, the build-up can sometimes feel overwhelming. The key is small, consistent efforts that prepare the mind and body for fasting while cultivating habits that enhance our overall well-being.
Physical Preparation:
Fasting requires gradual adjustment. Rajab, the sacred month before Ramadan, is ideal for preparing:
• Increase voluntary fasting: Try fasting twice a week (e.g. Mondays & Thursdays) or at least once a week.
• Stay active: Walking and other light physical activities help the body adjust and ease anxiety.
• Connect with nature: Islam emphasises harmony with creation—spending time outdoors brings peace and gratitude.
• Build habits early: It takes 40 days to form or break a habit—now is the time to establish routines that will make Ramadan more fulfilling.
Mental & Spiritual Preparation:
The goal of fasting is to attain taqwa (God-consciousness). To prepare mentally and spiritually:
• Self-reflection: Journal your achievements and areas for growth to cultivate awareness and accountability.
• Set realistic goals: Focus on small, consistent efforts rather than overwhelming yourself.
• Avoid comparisons: Everyone’s spiritual journey is unique—focus on personal progress.
Financial Preparation:
Ramadan is a time when rewards for good deeds multiply exponentially. Plan ahead:
• Budget your giving: Prioritise how you will contribute to charity.
• Every donation counts: Even giving 1p with sincerity is multiplied by Allah’s mercy.
• Purify your intentions: Rewards are based on sincerity, not quantity.
Home & Community Preparation:
Managing your home and engaging with your community can make Ramadan more productive and fulfilling.
Home Management:

✔ Plan meals in advance to minimise time spent in the kitchen.
✔ Prioritise worship before iftar rather than cooking.
