The Muslim Golf Association has established the UK's first-ever Muslim women's golf taster tour, allowing women to learn to play golf in a more comfortable and inclusive setting.
The tour began on May 21 in Birmingham and will last six weekends in six UK cities with large Muslim and minority ethnic communities, including London, Surrey, and Leicester.
Coaching sessions offered by female trainers and a light lunch are available to attendees.
MGA Founder Amir Malik explains that while the event is open to all women, he intends to provide even the "most conservative woman" the opportunity to play golf after himself suffering bigotry and discrimination since starting to play golf eight years ago.
You can actually play golf in a wedding dress, So surely you can play in a hijab.
Mr. Malik established the MGA in 2020 as the world's first dedicated golfing platform for Muslim golfers, with halal cuisine and prayer facilities.
He was inspired by receiving racist remarks from other golfers who witnessed him praying, and after feeling "ostracized" from social occasions conducted in pubs and bars due to his abstention from drinking.
The women's tour began following a series of successful prototype events hosted by the association in 2021.
