The city of Madinah, one of Islam’s holiest cities, was ranked the world’s safest city for solo female travellers.
A travel insurance website InsureMyTrip conducted the study “World’s Safest Cities for Solo Women Travelers” on 65 cities around the world.
Madinah was ranked first with an overall score of 10/10 according to the perception of women who have visited the listed cities. The scores took into consideration the absence of attacks based on gender and feeling safe walking alone at night in the sub-indexes.
The top 5 cities ranked safest for solo female travellers are:
1. Madinah, Saudi Arabia, 10/10
2. Chiang Mai, Thailand, 9.06/10
3. Dubai, UAE, 9.04/10
4. Kyoto, Japan, 9.02/10
5. Macao, China, 8.76/10
