
High schools in Ohio, USA are now required by new law to accommodate religious needs, particularly in terms of attire and headgear during sporting events.
This legislation will allow female Muslim students to compete wearing their Hijab without going through the process of getting a waiver.
Bill 181 had unanimous support in both state’s legislature bodies, passing in the House 89-0 and in the Senate 33-0. The law was suggested following different incidents faced by students where the latter were discriminated against and even disqualified on occasions.
