Many great Muslim women have marked history, here are a few examples.

Fatima al-Fihri

Believed to have established the al-Qarawiyyin mosque in Morocco, which later formed a teaching institution. Al-Qarawiyyin is cited by UNESCO and the Guinness World Records, as the oldest university or oldest continually operating higher learning institution in the world.

Mariam Al Astrulabi

Developed the foundation for managing transportation and communication using astrolabes, an ancient device used to measure time and the position of the sun and stars.

Amina Queen of Zazzau

Under her rein, Zazzau (now in the north-west region of Nigeria) controlled more territory than ever before. Amina ran an army consisting of over 20,000 soldiers and secured clear routes of passage for trade to the region.

Fatima Sheikh

Was an Indian educator and social reformer. She is widely considered to be India’s first Muslim woman teacher.
