Following the incident of Paul Pogba having beer placed in front of him at Euro 2020, the non-profit organisation Nujum Sports launched a charter to ensure the faith of Muslim soccer players and other athletes is respected both on and off the field.
The Charter seeks to "challenge organisations" to make progress in supporting Muslim sportsmen and women with signatories pledging to "create positive change".
There are 10 points contained within the charter that Nujum Sports are striving for organisations to implement which include non-consumption of alcohol, including during celebrations, appropriate places to pray, Halal food and fasting in Ramadan.
Watford Football Club was the first premier league club to pledge its support for the Muslim Athletes Charter.
Ebadur Rahman the founder of Nujum Sports said in an interview
Individual clubs in the premier league have accepted it. We have a club in Sweden, and there's a county cricket club now too that has accepted it. We've started talking to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to sign up with the charter as well.
