Female Muslim Students Receive Apology from Their German University

Two female Muslim students received an official apology from their university in Munich, Germany after being subject to discriminatory practices.

The students were instructed by supervisors to remove their Hijab (Islamic head covering) during online exams, to clear out any possibility of cheating. This incident provoked massive outrage on social media.

The university stated that amendments will be applied to instructors’ directions to guarantee respect for religious freedom.  "Religious headdresses cannot be compared to ordinary fashion accessories, and they have to be handled differently”
