Breaking new ground in Virginia, Lt. Wahid Alam has been appointed as the Fairfax County Police Department's first liaison officer for the local Muslim community.
Having worked within the police department for over 18 years, Lt. Alam, born and raised as Muslim, seeks to strengthen the connection that exists between the Muslim community and the police department.
“I want to be the conduit to all the resources the police department has to offer and encourage Muslims to consider a career in policing,” he said.
