American city of Minneapolis allowed the Muslim call to prayer (Adhan) to be recited by local mosques.
A council member, Jamal Osman, introduced a bill permitting the Adhan to be broadcasted by speakers between 7am and 10pm providing noise regulations in the area are followed. The bill was approved unanimously by the members of the city council.
Osman stated that this was "a signal of the equality and community we have built here. This is America and we are allowed to share our faith from the rooftops, just like everyone else."
