With Eid-ul-Fitr celebration just around the corner, multiple countries around the world have urged Muslims to stay at home and avoid large gatherings on the occasion of Eid as an effort to curb the rising of COVID_19 infections. Shops, restaurants, parks and beaches will be closed during this weekend.
We encourage all Muslims to stay at home and celebrate Eid digitally with their families and loved ones.
The Green Lane Masjid in Birmingham advised that the Eid prayer should be performed at home. The Masjid released advice on how to pray for Eid in lockdown:
- Start 15 minutes after the sunrise and last until roughly 10-15 minutes before the adhan of Duhr
- Should be prayed in the same format as praying in the Masjid
- Two Rakaʿāt should be prayed and read out loud with Surah Al Fatiha and another Surah
- The first Rakaʿāt has 7 Takbeerat
- The second Rakaʿāt has 5 Takbeerat
- There is no Khutbah to be read if Eid prayer is at home
In these strange, confusing and conflicting times we advise all Muslims to stay strong and stay home as much as possible
