The first ten days of Dhul al-Hijjah month are considered the best ten days of the year.
Religious leaders say there is a lot of good that can be gained from acts of worship or kindness during these days.
Prophet Muhammed (SAW) said:
There are no days more beloved to Allah that he be worshipped in them than the ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah, fasting every day of them is equivalent to fasting a year; and standing every night of them (in Salaah) is equivalent to standing on the Night of Qadr.
It is not only the Prophet (SAW) who regards these days as hallowed but Allah (SWT) Himself swears by them in the Holy Quran:
By the Dawn; By the ten nights
[89:1-2]
Here are some tips on how to earn rewards during these days:
- Make dhikr after your five daily prayers - Subhan-Allah 33 times, Alhamdulillah 33 times, and Allahu Akbar 34 times.
- Fast the first nine days of Dhul al-Hijjah.
- Fast on the day of Arafah. If you are unable to fast for the whole ten days, try to fast on just the Day of Arafah, the 9th of Dhul al-Hijjah.
- Recite the Quran.
