“There is none amongst the Muslims who plants a tree or sows seeds, and then a bird, or a person or an animal eats from it, but it is regarded as a charitable gift for them.”
— Prophet Muhammad, narrated by Anas bin Malik
This project centred on the understanding that tending the earth is a form of ibadah (worship). Planting, nurturing, and harvesting are valuable life skills, and through this initiative we explored how caring for the natural world aligns with our faith.
At Wibsey Community Gardens, participants learned how to make the most of their outdoor spaces, from gardens to pots and window boxes. Throughout the programme, we explored different soils, seeds, plants, and the principles of organic gardening, gaining hands-on experience and a deeper appreciation for sustainable growing.
It was a practical, peaceful, and spiritually grounding project that connected us with the earth and with one another.
