Christmas and Islam

Christmas and Islam

Christmas, the birthday of Prophet Jesus, known as Isa in the Quran, is celebrated by all Christians.
Being a Christian holiday Muslims don't celebrate it. This leads some to think that we as Muslims don’t believe in Prophet Jesus and that we hate Christmas.
On the contrary, Muslims believe in all the prophets of God and especially hold Jesus very high. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

The dearest person to me in friendship and in love, in this world and the next is Jesus, the son of Mary.

Prophet Isa was also mentioned 100 times in the Quran where Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) was mentioned five times.
Even though Muslims don’t take part in the traditional Christmas festivities, we happily share in the joy of our fellow neighbours, colleagues, classmates and friends. The Qur’an teaches us that though we may have differing beliefs we can all live together in peace and harmony.

Respect and honour all humans beings irrespective of their religion, colour, race, sex, language, status, property, birth, profession/job and so on.
[Quran 17:70]
